Rhian fan ni Badboy

Rhian and Robin play siblings in the GMA Films horror flick set to be released in the first quarter of 2009. Bulag ang character ni Rhian, at si Binoe naman ay may third eye. First time ng dalawa makatrabaho ang isa't-isa, at Rhian admits that she was really nervous noong unang beses nilang magkita.

"He's my older brother [in the movie] and he's such a nice guy, pero you can't help it, you know who he is - he's Robin freaking Padilla! So, you have to be nervous!" pahayag ng aktres.

Naka-full hair and makeup na si Rhian nang batiin niya si Binoe on their first taping day. She had to wear white contact lens for the role to give the illusion that she is blind.

Kwento ni Rhian, "So I went after him and I looked really, really stupid because I had the white contacts and then my hair was pulled back in this black bandana. I look like a boy! I look like a boy na white yung mata! [I said], 'Hi, I'm so honored to be working with you,' and then I offered my hand."

But upon seeing her eyes, syempre nagulat si Binoe sa mata niya! Tuloy ni Rhian, "He turns around [to shake my hand and] he goes 'whoo!'"

"Sabi ko, 'I-I'm sorry, it’s such an honor to meet you,' he was like, 'Ok, ha. Yung mata [mo] nakatatakot!'"

"I don't really want [that to be the] first impression, but I [tried to forget] all about it. So yun, the first reaction I ever got [from Robin was], 'whoo!'"

Ang first meeting na yun ay nagsilbing ice breaker para sa kanilang dalawa. After that, tila ba'y old friends na sila. Rhian also shared na Ramadan season noong shooting [ng Sundo], kaya naman hindi kumakain si Binoe mula 6 a.m. hanggang 6 p.m.

"So can you imagine working for so long and not being able to eat? He wasn't being masungit, he [was still] really cool. And throughout Ramadan I all felt so bad for him that he couldn't eat na parang I don't want to na rin," sabi ni Rhian.

"I lost my appetite and I felt for him that much. That's how much he takes it seriously, he will not put anything in his mouth until 6 p.m.. And then it [was] so cold in Baguio na you just wanna eat. You know what I mean? So I really admire [his discipline]!"

Moon River : Newest ABS-CBN Teleserye

Binisita ng Pinoy Parazzi ang photoshoot ng latest teleserye ng ABS-CBN, ang Moon River (papalitan pa yata ang title nito, dahil masyadong mahal ang rights) na pagbibidahan ni Maja Salvador with Geoff Eigenmann as her leading man.


Dito pa lang sa photoshoot na ito, nakagugulat na ang tranformation ng dance princess. Mula sa kanyang sweet at very youthful image, tila mas mature at mas daring na Maja ang matutunghayan natin sa kanyang teleserye. Kumbaga, patikim na ang mga litratong ito sa kung ano ang puwede nating asahan sa nilulutong teleserye ito. At mukhang hindi lang basta makikipagtagisan ng acting si Maja sa mga premayadong aktres tulad nina Chin-Chin Gutierrez at Jodi Sta. Maria, may iba pa nag siyang ipakikita rito, huh!

Hero on Luna Mystica

Hero Angeles has appeared sa isang fantasy soap even before he switched to being a Kapuso. Pero ayon sa kanya, this is the first time he gets to wear a costume - one that shows a little skin. So kamusta naman ang lagay ni Hero?. Text by Jason John S. Lim. Photos by Mitch S. Mauricio.

Nang madatnan namin si Hero Angeles, nakatalukbong na ang cape ng costume niya sa katawan niya. "Kasi nga inuubo ako," paliwanag ng teen actor. "Ang laming doon kanina, nakatalikod ako sa aircon."

This was during the press conference ng Luna Mystika, kung saan ipinakilala ang mga characters ng last primetime offering ng GMA-7 for 2008. Hero's position put him directly in line with the air conditioner—and this is after a night na inulan sila sa gubat.

"Nagre-rehearse [kami] noon. Sina Direk Gil [Tejada] kasama ko." That night, ayon kay Hero, they were rehearsing their scenes to film para sa press conference VTR. "Tapos bilgang umulan, 'di kami nakapag-shoot. So naghintay kami, kami nina Aljur [Abrenica], naka-costume kami lahat. Tapos naghihintay lang kami na tumila 'yung ulan.

"E hindi siya tumila."

By the time they decided to just shoot sa sound stage, lahat sila ay nabasa na at nahamugan—lalo na sina Aljur at Hero na halos topless ang costume.

Hero explains na 'yung costume niya now was not the same costume na gusto sana ng Luna Mystika para sa kanya. "Iniba nila kasi daw medyo kahawig sa Kamandag; 'yung mga lobo doon." Dagdag pa niya, "iniba nila, ginawa para magmukhang elf."

And unlike in other shows na naiinitan ang artista sa costume, ang kay Hero naman ay sobrang malamig. "Exposed eh." Compared daw kina Mark [Herras], mas covered 'yung sa mga kasamahan niya.

Kwento ni Hero, "sinabi ko [na] hindi naman kagandahan ang katawan ko. Hindi naman ako si Aljur 'di ba? Hindi naman ako Ultimate Hunk." Kaya naman, he approached the costume designer prior to his costume being made na huwag masyadong gawing daring ang costume niya. "Wala [akong] ganyang lakas na loob."

Ang nangyari lang, mukhang lalo pa siyang naging exposed. Hero says na dahil daw mas gusto ng staff ng Luna Mystika na mas maging confident ang itsura ng role ni Hero. "[At] hindi nila puwedeng takpan masyado," he continues that as the leader kailangan daw talagang iba ang itsura niya. Kaya naman nagpapasalamat na si Hero na nagkaroon ng kapa ang costume niya.

Though nagkakasakit na si Hero dahil sa suot niya, hindi naman niya ito ipagpapalit. "Enjoy naman ako eh."

Hero says na this is not his first time to do a fantasy role. First time sa GMA, yes. Pero mas first time ang magsuot ng intricate na costume. "Dati pag nanunuod ako ng Kamandag, iniisip ko, anong feeling ng may costume?"

It seems Hero has finally found the answer to his question. "Malamig pala," he chuckles. "Ano naman, hindi nila pinapabayaan 'yung itsura nung character." Though, inamin ni Hero na talagang kinabahan siya. "Kasi hindi naman ako ganoon, 'yung mga katulad ni Jace [Flores], 'di ba? Ang ganda ng katawan."

Land Down Under is now “Love Me Again” to premiere in San Francisco!

The Star Cinema film Land Down Under starring Piolo Pascual and Angel Locsin changed its title and will now be known as Love Me Again. Piolo Pascual left Wednesday morning and Angel Locsin will leave today for the Star Cinema International Film Festival that will take place in the United States this weekend.

Synopsis:

Love Me Again is about a Bukidnon native named Migo (Piolo) who wants to reclaim the ranch that his family had lost after his father’s death.

In the process, he is smitten by the beauty of his first love Arah (Angel) who has grown to become the famous rodeo queen of Bukidnon. He falls in love with her all over again and resolves to win back her heart as well.

However, Arah is already engaged to an Australian rancher named Brian Sullivan. Being the eldest daughter of a poor cowboy, she feels compelled to accept this man’s offer of marriage in order to give her family a better life, no matter how much she still loves Migo.

Arah leaves Bukidnon, along with a group of Pinoy cowboys who have been hired to work in the vast and lonely Australian ranch, which is even bigger than Bukidnon.

Arah thinks it’s all over between her and her great love, but two years later, Migo arrives in Australia to work as a cowboy and, more importantly, to get Arah back.

La Traidora - Angel's upcoming show

Upang lalo pang palakasin ang kanilang programming line-up at patatagin ang pangingibabaw nila sa Nationwide Urban TV Audience Measurement o NUTAM, binili ng ABS-CBN mula sa Marte Television ng Venezuela ang rights para sa sikat na soap opera na "La Traidora."

Hindi pa plantsado ang lahat ng detalye tungkol sa "La Traidora" ngunit may sinabi na ang ilang insiders sa Kapamilya Network na si Angel Locsin ang gaganap sa papel ng bidang si Valeria Montoya. Ito ang pangalawang teleserye na kung saan magiging bida si Angel. Ang una ay sa "Lobo" na kung saan ay nakatambal niya si Piolo Pascual.

Bukod kay Angel, ilan pa sa mga sinasabing artista na napipisil ng ABS-CBN para sa "La Traidora" ay sina Diether Ocampo, na sinasabing gaganap sa role ng leading man ni Valeria Montoya na si Morel; Cristine Reyes, na napipisil para gumanap sa kontrabidang si Dayana Montoya; Gabby Concepcion; Megan Young; Jake Cuenca; Long Mejia; at Dagul.

Ang direktor na si Lino Cayetano ang siyang sinasabi na maaaring mag-direk ng "La Traidora" ngunit baka kay Direk Wenn Deramas daw ito ibigay.

"I wasn't expecting [this]." Iyan ang words ni Jace Flores sa kanyang pagpasok sa show business. Pero agad-agad, may show na siya—ang Luna Mystika.

starsWhen iGMA got to talk to Jace, hindi pa siya nagte-taping. But since then, ilang beses na rin lumabas si Jace sa show bilang si Lucas. How would he describe his role?



"Parang bad boy na anak mayaman." Sa kuwento ni Jace, he will be playing the mayor's son. And for him, hindi challenge ang gagampanan niyang role—and not because anak siya ng mayaman.

"Honestly, when I was younger, I used to be someone na nambu-bully." Jace laughs that it's very easy nga daw for him. "Mas madali ang buhay na ganyan."

Jace isn't afraid to talk about his bully days, especially since those days are long past na for him. "Aminado [ako]," sabi niya. "Ngayon [kasi], siyempre mas mature [na ako]." And, according nga sa kanya, this past gives him the experience he needs for his role. "Mas madaling gampanan 'yung mga role na ganoon para sa akin."

When he is asked though kung ano ang dapat abangan from Luna Mystika, Jace plays the humble card and says, "[ang] bagong tambalan nina Mark [Anthony Fernandez] at Heart [Evangelista] ." He continues, "ang galing ng pagka-shadow ni Heart—as in first time na magawa sa primetime na may shadow—tapos 'yung prosthetics?

"Sobrang hirap 'yung mga costume nila!" Dagdag pa niya, "hindi lang pang-adult 'yung show—pambata din."

So we had to ask again, ano ba ang dapat abangan from Luna Mystika - lalo na sa kanya.

"From me?" Incredulous na tanong ni Jace. He says, "Sana abangan nila 'yung talagang gampanan ko 'yung role. Siga talaga." He hopes na he will play the role well, sabay dugtong na pambiro: "I'm sure I'll bring out the old Jace."

Marky Cielo passed away at the age of 20

An initial report says that Marky died in his sleep. His mother went up to his room in their house in Antipolo City around 6 a.m. to wake him up for a charity event. But he never woke up.

GMA 7 issued the following statement past 4 p.m. Sunday on the death of Cielo.

"Bandang alas 10 kaninang umaga sa Antipolo Doctors Hospital ay idineklarang dead on arrival ang young actor at Starstruck Nationwide Invasion Sole Survivor na si Marky Cielo.

"Ayon sa paunang salaysay ng kanyang ina na si Mildred Cielo, natagpuan niyang nakahandusay ang kanyang anak sa kanilang tahanan sa Antipolo, Rizal, at agad niya itong isinugod sa ospital. Sa ngayon ay hinintay pa nila ang resulta ng imbestigasyon sa sanhi ng pagpanaw ni Marky Cielo bago magbigay ng opisyal na pahayag ang kanyang pamilya.

Tubong Mountain Province at may lahing Igorot si Marky Cielo, at itinanghal na Sole Survivor sa Season 3 ng Starstruck. Hinangaan siya sa kanyang husay sa kanyang pag-arte at pagsayaw.

Huli siyang napanood sa Startok, SOP, at La Lola. Siya rin ang tumatayong Youth Spokesperson ng Department of Health.

Si Marky Cielo ay 20 years old. Bukod sa mga panalangin, humihiling ang pamilya Cielo ng privacy sa matinding dagok na to sa kanilang buhay."

Marky was a product of GMA-7's StarStruck Batch 3, where he won as the "Ultimate Sole Survivor." He was the first Igorot from Baguio City to join the popular reality-based artista search. Among his batchmates were Iwa Moto, Jackie Rice, and Gian Carlo.

Meet the new Golden Boy: Pacquiao upsets Dela Hoya

Just a year ago, Manny Pacquiao facing Oscar de la Hoya appeared an improbable proposition.

But Pacquiao's victory over his iconic opponent on Sunday (Saturday, US time) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas could not have been thinkable in a lifetime.

Pacquiao carried out his game plan to textbook perfection and perhaps closed a chapter in the history of boxing after he defeated the legendary de la Hoya after eight rounds on Sunday (Saturday, US time) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Active, methoidcal and simply dominant, Pacquiao took his time to trim down de la Hoya. His patience paid dividends midway through the match as de la Hoya's left-side cheek began to swell.

When de la Hoya's knees began to wobble and his eyes started to lose fire, Pacquiao went for the jugular. In the seventh, he cornered de la Hoya and pummeled him to the head and body. In the eighth, Pacquiao had de la Hoya by the ropes and pressed on the attack.

During the break after the round, de la Hoya's side, wanting to avoid further humiliation, decided to surrender the match.

"I'm so lucky because I controlled the fight in the first round," Pacquiao said. "That's what we were working on everyday during training. Speed is the key to the fight. I used it in the fight."

Pacquiao reached an all-new level of greatness after this one.

He climbed to 147 pounds to meet his boyhood idol and take a shot at the most lucrative deal of his career. After shredding de la Hoya, Pacquiao proved without a shadow of a doubt that he is boxing's most prolific name to date.

"He deserves all the credit. He was the better man. He deserves all the accolades," a dejected de la Hoya said. "He's just a great fighter. I have nothing bad to say about him. He prepared well."

Pacquiao has gone 3-0 this year, after decisioning Juan Manuel Marquez in April as a 130-pounder and bludgeoning David Diaz in June as a 135-pounder.

With his ward's string of success, Freddie Roach, Pacquiao's trainer, called out de la Hoya, challenging him to take on Pacquiao.

But the prospect of a Pacquiao-de la Hoya bout didn't sit well with the boxing community, with most of them saying the five-foot-10 de la Hoya would run over the five-foot-six Pacquiao in a mismatch.

"It proved I was right," Roach said.

But then David brought in more than a slingshot in this match versus Goliath.

Roach had always professed that if Pacquiao fought "the perfect fight", Pacquiao would be able to take down de la Hoya.

That's exactly what happened.

Pacquiao timed his in-and-out movements and regularly hit the slower de la Hoya on the face. He was quick on his feet when de la Hoya initiated. And his jabs found their way through de la Hoya's porous defense.

In short, de la Hoya had no answers for The Pacman.

Roach, who belittled de la Hoya saying he "couldn't pull the trigger" anymore, was on target after all.

When he was asked to comment on the abrupt ending of the match - and altogether probably his stellar pro career - de la Hoya was a picture of a finished man.

"I'm not shocked. At this stage of my career, (losses like this) are almost expected," de la Hoya said.

If this is how it ends for de la Hoya, then it is both a sorry ending as it is a symbolic one.

The 10-time world champion has flip-flopped on the retirement question. Earlier this year, he said the Pacquiao fight would be his last. During training, he took that back and said he felt good enough to lengthen his run.

De la Hoya, who turns 36 in February, dodged the retirement issue again on Sunday. But it's clear his time is up.

"I worked hard. I trained hard. But being inside the ring and training at the gym is totally different," admitted de la Hoya, boxing's top draw and far and away the king of pay-per-view sports.

If de la Hoya gives up fighting, the man who sent him off will make sure the void he leaves won't be empty for so long.

In a virtual passing of the torch, Pacquiao seized the mantle as boxing's most marketable fighter.

"You're still my idol," Pacquiao pointed to de la Hoya before Pacquiao was handed the microphone for an interview.

De la Hoya, it appeared, was more than willing to give up his throne.

"No, you're my idol." he pointed back.

Hero ng mga Kapuso

When Hero Angeles moved to GMA-7, hindi na ito naging surprise sa mga tao. Pero, according to Hero, hindi rin naging madali para sa kanya ang lumipat. Text by Jason John S. Lim. Photos by Mitch S. Mauricio.

Hero Angeles officially became a Kapuso, March 2008. Prior to that, lumalabas lang siya sa various guest appearances like Maynila, SiS at mga Q Channel 11 shows. Other than that, regular siyang napapanood sa long-running Walang Tulugan with Master Showman.

In Luna Mystika, ang bagong show kung saan lalabas muli si Hero, he will be acting alongside Mark H. Pwedeng sabihin na si Mark ang counterpart ni Hero noon, both of them beging the grand male winners of their competing reality star searches. Sabi ni Hero, "nakakatuwa" makasama si Mark, at kahit ang ibang mga StarStruck talents.

"Sila Kris, sila Aljur—mababait naman sila. So nakakatuwa, kasi dati fear ko pag lumipat ako, baka hindi ako pansinin." But after starring sa Dyesebel with homegrown GMA stars, and even the crew, nawala rin ang takot ni Hero. "Nakakatuwa 'yung mga StarStruck talents - welcome ako sa kanila.

"So far, ang dami ko ding nakikita sa crew, cameraman, directors [na nanggaling din from the other network]."

Hero adds na bukod sa pagging welcoming ng stars at ng crew, isa pang nakapagsettle ng fears niya ay ang mga fans niya na mabilis naka-transfer sa GMA. "Wala pa ako sa GMA, nagulat ako kasi may thread ako sa iGMA [Forums]."

In fact, his fans are very active and very vocal, some of them requesting a tandem with Jennylyn Mercado, the counterpart of Hero Angeles's former love team partner Sandara Parks. And Hero admits, gusto nga niyang makatrabaho si Jennylyn. "Tsaka si Mark; silang dalawa. Sana mabigyan ng chance."

Aside from requesting tandems, active din ang online fans ni Hero to request for shows, for which Hero is thankful. "Nakakatuwa kasi naghanap sila ng way para mailabas nila 'yung saloobin nila. Sa Management sasabihin nila [na] sana po mabigyan ng ganyan."

For now, Hero will take it one show at a time. Who knows? Baka sa susunod na programa ni Hero, siya na ang third party sa tambalang Mark-Jennylyn? In the meantime, guguluhin niya muna ang mundo ni Luna Mystika bilang leader ng mga masasamang Engkanto.

Diether Ocampo Newest Kapuso?

Diether Ocampo's rumor that he has moved to Kapuso has been confirmed by Wilma Galvante, GMA7 Senior Vice President for Entertainment.

Yasmien Kurdi to quit showbiz?

Yasmien Kurdi will quit Philippine Showbiz after the airing of the GMA 7 TV remake of ‘Saan Darating Ang Umaga’. The original, which was a movie, ‘Saan Darating Ang Umaga’ won for Maricel Soriano her first acting award. Yasmien Kurdi will quit Philippine Showbiz to vie for an international career. Yasmien Kurdi plans to reside abroad which she for now has not divulged where. In that country, Yasmien Kurdi has auditioned and is one of the most likely to be chosen for a popular reality television show.

“Para siyang reality contest. Parang PBB (Pinoy Big Brother), maraming challenges, kaya masaya. Saka sikat siya ‘di lang sa kanilang bansa. Kaya naman ma-sarap sumali kasi mag-kakaroon ako ng international exposure sakaling makapapasok ako.”

In the process, Yasmien Kurdi, a certified Kapuso, indirectly revealed that she watches PBB, an ABS-CBN show. Yasmien said that her quiting Philippine Showbiz and moving to another country has the blessings of her parents. Yasmien Kurdi is Lebanese-Filipino in ethnicity. In Saan Darating Ang Umaga, Dion Ignacio is elevated to leading man status as he is paired off with Yasmien Kurdi.

Richard begins training for Zorro

From robotic to romantic

"Those two are my main projects which will be shown soon, but of course, for primetime, I'm preparing for something—I'm also training for another project," says Richard. This, of course, is Zorro, set to air in 2009.

"I started training for fencing, [and] I will start [horse back] riding soon. Fully booked lang yung riding school ngayon, kaya hindi pa ako nakakapag-start.

"Then I'll be doing an acting workshop with direk Peque Gallaga, because 1900s yung era na gagawin namin and we have to study how the Filipinos were back then, kung ano yung way of living natin, kung ano yung paniniwala [natin] noong 1900s [and] all of that."

Richard says that they're even going to invite a historian to brief the whole team on what actually happened at that point in Philippine history!

"It's gonna be something hardcore for all of us, and also very exciting, [because it'll be my] first time [to portray a] role in a period setting."

Has his leading lady been confirmed already?

"Wala pa."

Will it be a new face on primetime TV?

"Nandiyan na siya! Sa pali-paligid!" Richard answers with a laugh.

After the success of A Very Special Love, Star Cinema is bringing back the love team of Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz for its sequel to be released next year.

Both Sarah Geronimo and John LloydCruz said they hoped that their fans would support the upcoming film as much as they did the first movie.

Sarah Geronimo shared that the sequel’s theme song will be “You Changed My Life In a Moment.”

On the possibility that the fans of John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo might react negatively to the new Geronimo-Cruz film, Geronimo said: “Nakalagpas na kami sa ‘A Very Special Love.’ Sana natanggap na kahit papaano [ang love team namin]. Basta thankful kami sa lahat ng suportang ibibigay sa amin.”
